Where can I turn for peace....

Today I must be extra sensitive or anxious for my surgery tomorrow. I didn't feel like I was but the slightest thing put me into tears. During church someone would make the comment "Families can be together for ever" and out poured the tears. The worst part was in Relief Society with the opening and closing songs. They were; "Where can I turn for Peace" and "Abide with me". Then the tears really poured (of course I felt stupid) embarrassed that I was crying (more like almost sobbing) in front of everyone, but knowing I had just had a strong realization that my Savior would be there for me! Here are the lyrics to the songs with links to hear the music if you want.

    Where Can I Turn for Peace     Text: Emma Lou Thayne. Music: Joleen G. Meredith

  1. Where can I turn for peace?
    Where is my solace
    When other sources cease to make me whole?
    When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,
    I draw myself apart,
    Searching my soul?
  2. Where, when my aching grows,
    Where, when I languish,
    Where, in my need to know, where can I run?
    Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?
    Who, who can understand?
    He, only One.
  3. He answers privately,
    Reaches my reaching
    In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend.
    Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching.
    Constant he is and kind,
    Love without end.

    As we started to sing this song I realized that I had some anguish, aching & I need someone to calm me and the only one who could really understand was my Savior. From that point I knew he would be there beside me even at my hardest moment.
  4. Abide With Me Tis Eventide                                                                                                                                                          Text: M. Lowrie Hofford,1882-1937.   Music: Harrison Millard, 1830-1895.

    1. Abide with me; 'tis eventide.
      The day is past and gone;
      The shadows of the evening fall;
      The night is coming on.
      Within my heart a welcome guest,
      Within my home abide.
    2. (Chorus)
      O Savior, stay this night with me;
      Behold, 'tis eventide.
      O Savior, stay this night with me;
      Behold, 'tis eventide.
    3. 2. Abide with me; 'tis eventide.
      Thy walk today with me
      Has made my heart within me burn,
      As I communed with thee.
      Thy earnest words have filled my soul
      And kept me near thy side.

    Again I knew my Savior would be there for me...Later that night my husband was able to give me a beautiful priesthood blessing. As my husband and I went to bed that night we were scared which is natural because we didn't know what they would find but we knew it would be ok.
