So let me
tell you the story about the crazy quilt as they call it (that’s the style of
the quilt). Our relief society ties a quilt every month for Homemaking
mtg/enrichment mtg – whatever they call it any more. I don’t know if you
remember Marian Summers (she lived on the corner of 2900 so/2700e, a white
house) Well daughter A’s husband had the fabric given to him by an in-active
member whom he had home taught (which is; giving an uplifting thought and
checking to see if they are ok or need anything) regularly for a long time and then
became friends. She thought he would enjoy the quilt top and so she gave it to
him with love. So daughter A was just going to give it to the DI but daughter B
(who is Joyce’s best friend & knew about the quilt tying project) said she
would take it and give it to Joyce to donate. Naoma (another friend) saw it and
said this can’t be tied it need to be quilted. Naoma had a friend that she
thought she could get to quilt it. Her friend did. So then the relief society
presidency got thinking “why don’t we donate it” to Laurie to snuggle in while
she’s doing chemo. So they did! I think it’s a beautiful, cheery quilt and I’ve
already started using it when I came home from surgery. So many hands with so
much love given. The saying ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure is true
in this story’. Thank You to all the many hands of love that have brought this beautiful quilt of love for me to enjoy during this difficult time!
