Getting a wig....fundraiser....

A friend of mine from work called me up one day and said she couldn’t believe what she was reading about me having cancer. She wanted to give my name to her brother. He has a company that he works with that helps to do fundraising; especially for women with cancer. It helps you to get money donated for a wig, which is especially helpful because my insurance doesn't cover a cranial prosthesis. I have an actual prescription - weird. After I get one I might be able to appeal it but we'll see. The wig is custom fit, and it’s real hair. He sets up the website for you and then has someone host it. It’s like donating to a team race. It has the goal amount and how much more I need to get my wig. There is also a donation button to donate if you want to donate for someone else who can’t afford it or their insurance won’t cover it like mine. Anyone can donate $5, 10, 20 or more. I also had another friend who offered to do a fundraiser, selling crafts, goodies etc. but because of the time constraints we decided to go with the web fundraiser especially with me just haven gone through surgery. I plan to start chemo this next week. They have told me I would start losing my hair after about 2-2 1/2 weeks. so Next week I plan to get my hair cut from the middle of my back to about my shoulders. As I start to lose it then I will just shave it off. It's kind of weird thinking about and anticipating the hair loss. I've been pulling my hair back bangs and all and not wearing any makeup to help me get used to it, especially while I don't feel up to looking pretty right now after the surgery. Give me a few more days...
