...The unknown... Marks texts to family after the surgery....

The following is the text Mark sent to the family and a few close friends after the surgery: (1) Just met with the doctor things went great! No tumors! She goes home today. He said the hospital doesn't tell him when his patients get to go home. (they had told us we'd be there overnight). We won't know details till Tuesday. So maybe a few hours after she gets to her room we will come home. (2) another version: Laurie is done. Things went great! No tumors we might know by the end of the week on the pathology. She goes home today!

We got home, she was hurting especially walking. I guess the ride home made her sick, she was vomiting. Gave her a nausea pill and put her to bed. In the night she started to cry because it hurt so much. She reached for my hand and I held it until we both fell asleep.

  1. Laurie, I hope all is going well with your recovery. I'm so glad they didn't find more cancer. So where does that put you with staging? Will you still do chemo? Take care!

  2. They still sent everything they took out to pathology for the staging. Before surgery I was a 2c (because it involved to organ systems). I won't know the full staging until next Tuesday, if it's any different. I did read though that my peritoneal wash came back negative for any cancer. Now we'll wait on the other stuff. At this point I will still do Chemo to get anything microscopic that is left.
